Ole Red’s Blake Shelton Restaurant in Downtown Nashville’s Music City

Last month I visited Nashville, the good old South and of course, checking out what’s changed in the food scene since the last time I visited.

Well, for starters, Sprinkles Cupcakes closed down where you can grab a cupcake out of an ATM. I was very surprised it shut down. It was brand new last time but there’s many, many other restaurants to adventure out on this trip.

Downtown Nashville aka. SoBro (South of Broadway) is interesting and includes Bridgestone Arena, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman, and more.  As it wasn’t my first trip to Nashville, it was nice to relax, skip the tourist attractions and do local activities.

What I like about Downtown Nashville is the live music at all hours of the day and night. As we were walking along Broadway, I had to take a photo of the AT&T Building aka. Batman building as it was the honoury thing to do.

If you are a big fan of The Voice and country, you’ll know country superstar Blake Shelton is venturing out the restaurant business, which is exciting news.

Ole Red is located in Downtown Nashville at 300 Broadway and is it multi-level restaurant.  It is a four-story restaurant and you can get a good view of the city and the bridges. The ambiance was nice as they had a live band playing country music. The restaurant was in soft launch mode as they were amping up towards the official launch the next after.

As for the food, I ordered the Nashville Pulled Pork Sandwich. It was my first day in Nashville, we had a (food) game plan on where to eat so skipped the Nashville hot chicken, mac and cheese, cornbread, pinto beans, white gravy and biscuits as they were going to be on the list later on my trip. 😛

Instead of ordering boring french fries on the side, I asked what they recommended and it was suggested to go with tater tots as it was different. Why not try?

The pulled pork sandwich was extra meaty and light on the slaw, which was awesome! I’m not a fan of slaw and find that most places go overboard on it. There was a good amount of BBQ sauce to compliment the pulled pork. The tater tots really won my heart as they are made freshly in-house. You can’t say no to freshly made food so yay!

Here’s a tip: The women’s washroom is selfie-friendly with full-on mirrors for those moments. 🙂

I have a backlog of food posts so plan on slowly posting them on here. Happy Friday!
