Ok, birthday month is over. But ice cream season is never over! There seems to be a trend of more ice cream shops opening up, especially in the Kitsilano and North Vancouver area of town. We were in a celebratory mood, what better way to celebrate than with luxurious ice cream!
There’s no secret I have an ice cream problem. Everyone knows. If we do not go out for dessert or ice cream, we cannot be friends. And no window (ice cream) shopping. That’s lame. Who does that? 😉
La Glace is a French-style ice cream parlour in the Kitsilano area of town and has been opened for a month. Located at 2785 W 16th Avenue in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. As we were driving along West 16th, we weren’t sure if there would be an ice cream place around.
I mean, when you think of Kitsilano, you think of the hipster restaurants, right? However, there has been increase of ice cream places booming in the area. We can discuss that later in this post.
When you open the door, this place is super girly, very similar to Botanist Dining at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It is an ice cream version of fancy and beauty with a neighbourhood feel. It was not busy when we arrived and it was a good opportunity to try most of the flavours. All of the flavours are fresh and the quality is there. They also had other French treats such as macarons.
I got the the decadent matcha noir (matcha green tea and black sesame) and rose water lychee sorbet on a waffle cone with coconut flake and not a with a fluffy marshmallow.
Did you see the ice cream order this time around? It totally matters. My ice cream partner got the matcha noir. And yes, only a single scoop. I’m glad to see that Vancouver has a luxury ice cream parlour. Next time definitely want to try the ice cream parfait. I wonder what (new) ice cream place will be next on the list.
Places such as the second IceQueen location should take notice. You can see experiences #1 and #2 from IceQueen’s central Richmond location. And how about Tangram Creamery nearby too. Or how about ice cream nitrogen at Magicream in Kerrisdale? Or Passion8 on Cambie? Or the fourth Earnest location in North Vancouver and how about the new Welcome Parlour in Lonsdale? So much ice cream competition!
Do you see a pattern here for ice cream and dessert. Until next time! 🙂
