Mikan Cafe, sister of Cafe de L’Orangerie in Mount Pleasant in Vancouver

So I have a backlog of posts to catch up on from an exciting month! Mikan Cafe is one of the restaurants I visited last month with a friend. It was near closing when we went on a Saturday evening.  Mikan Cafe recently renamed as it was previously called Jean Talon. It has been around under the new name this year. This location has been around for years in the Mount Pleasant area.

Located at 670 East Broadway in Vancouver. This casual Japanese place resembles its sister restaurant, Cafe de L’Orangerie.  It is a casual cafe that serves Japanese-style pasta. The service was decent, friendly and the server mistakenly served us the wrong dessert. We figured that she had a long day since it was near closing. 😉 The value type foodies will like this place. And yes, there are different foodie types out there!

Back to Mikan Cafe, below is what we ordered. We obviously ordered dessert too and got the Fondant Chocolat À la Mode and Lemon Tart. 😉

  • Spaghetti Carbonara – bacon, mushroom, garlic, egg, parmesan cheese and cream
  • Hayashi Beef Stew with Hamburger Steak & Creamy Spaghetti – Beef stew served with a cream based spaghetti and topped with a hamburger steak

I really miss Moncton Cafe in Steveston.  It was a little hidden gem and had the best pork katsu along with the quality of food. If you have any Japanese-style pasta cafe suggestions, let me know!

Also, I am still thinking about Ask for Luigi for Italian. Remember it meets my food element criteria. We actually went to Mikan Cafe and Ask for Luigi the next day for more Italian food on the same weekend. True story! 🙂

Until next time! 🙂
