Autumn has arrived. The summery sangrais are out and the cranberry, rosemary and cinnamon are in for the fall and winter. It’s a happy medium. 🙂
Juniper is located in the heart of Chinatown in Vancouver at 185 Keefer Street and opened sometime late last year. As mentioned before, Chinatown is turning into a hipster modern area. Juniper is similar to Kissa Tanto where they have tasty hand-crafted cocktails. Keefer Street is becoming one of the best cocktail drinking streets in town.
When you walk into Juniper, it is very dark like most cocktail bars. It is modern and there’s a bar and restaurant area. There wasn’t a loud party that evening so it was perfect on the noise level. I really dislike it when you go to a place and the other people surrounding ruin your night. That wasn’t the case over a long weekend when we visited Juniper.
When I skimmed through Juniper’s food menu, nothing really stood out for me. It happened to be Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend so I wanted a festive drink. I ended up getting the Holiday Gobbler on the drink menu. The holiday gobbler contains bourbon, spice cranberry, butter, lemon, and rosemary. It was the perfect autumn and holiday drink.
It is refreshing to see a restaurant update the drinks menu regularly. My friend was there on Tuesday and went again over the weekend. Accordingly to him, they switched the cocktails menu. It’s very often that restaurants feel it’s necessary since they already know what food formula works for them.
Here’s some of the food and drinks my friends had. You be the judge on how it “looks”.
Next time I want to go there for happy hour and try the fish and meat charcuterie boards. You can’t go wrong with crackers, pickles, sourdough bread and spreads. I love anything on a board since you can share! 🙂
If you’re in the Chinatown area in the evening, grab a cocktail and catch up with your friends that way. Or you can hit up a couple of (food) places like we did. 🙂
