In Pizza We Crust – Pizza Carano in Vancouver

My friend and I grabbed dinner at Pizza Carano on a sunny September day. Also, another friend of mine continues to rave about this place and I fully trust her judgement so I had very high expectations on Pizza Carano. We were the first customers since they just opened at 5pm. When we walked in, we noticed the large mirrors on the wall with the menu written on it.

We got seated by the window on a summery nice day and asked the server what they recommended. The server had the same high energy level as us and immediately told us we had to get the Serrano Ham and we wouldn’t be disappointed. She also recommended the Caprese but we were in a rush to attend a meeting so we decided to stick with ordering a classic pizza. We couldn’t miss out since we were in the area!

This is seriously a perfect pizza. I’m so in love. The last time I was “in love” with pizza was in New York. New Yorkers are serious about Italian and pizza. They know their stuff. The crust is so heavenly. I personally haven’t been impressed with the pizza scene in Vancouver and always have to default to New York pizza when I visit there every time. When the pizzas arrived, you can tell that the crust is so-ever perfectly thin.

Now, the food. The flavor combos were ever-so perfect and on point – we had Serrano ham and Hawaiian, which had macadamia for that savoury boost. The Serrano was my favourite of the two because it was savoury and sweet. It had caramelized onions to contrast the salty savoury ham and pistachios, along with white sauce. I LOVE THE SERRANO.

Hawaiian – tomato sauce, prosciutto cotto, pineapple, fior de latte, sage and macadamia nuts

If we didn’t have somewhere else to go that evening, we would have ordered a cocktail, some small plate appetizers and another delicious pizza. You pay more for serious thin crust pizza. We liked the place so much that we took a menu home for future take-out pizza adventures. The staff are so nice, fun and friendly.

This is a great local hidden pizza gem. Who doesn’t like pizza and Italian food?! Until next time! I seriously want pizza now. SERIOUSLY – who is in?! Can’t wait to go back! 🙂
