Jam Café is one of the hottest brunch spots in Vancouver that opened earlier this year. It is near Stadium skytrain station where the old Cafe Medina was located at 556 Beatty Street.
When you walk into the restaurant, it has a hipster vibe. (Like most new places in Vancouver.) The interior decor is rustic with some antique pieces and has around 50 seats. People weren’t kidding when they said the portions are huge. I never seen such Insta-worthy food for brunch.
So-ever Insta-worthy. I’ve been to Jam Cafe three times (so far) and it never disappoints.
Every time I visit, the service and quality is consistent. Servers are super friendly, quick and answered our questions. They’re known for the Little Charlie, Gravy coop, and Eggs Benedict. Some of the dishes are next to impossible to finish from the huge portions.
I got the Gravy coop and it was very good. Fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, house sausage gravy, sunny side eggs, and hash browns.
The table next to us ordered the Red Velvet pancakes and it was so pretty that we decided to get our own too. 😛 These pancakes looked like dessert. SERIOUSLY like cakes. It was so moist and there was a good amount of cream cheese icing.
Eggs Benedict is a brunch staple and we wanted to try the fried chicken and smoked salmon version. The eggs were poached perfectly with a runny egg. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Another brunch staple is waffles and french toast. We got the Fried Chicken Waffles and Caramelized Apple French Toast. The waffles were ok and seemed very plain. However, the chicken was nice and moist. There was a generous amount of meat and gravy.
We went all out and also shared a Chocolate Milkshake. An order can be split between two people. The milkshakes were very creamy and delicious.
The food exceeds Insta-worthiness for the presentation. I highly recommend this place for brunch. It’s best to go early to avoid the lineup. If not, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or enjoy samplings of their food while you wait for a table.
I swear the lineups keep getting longer and longer each time we visit but there’s a good reason for it. 🙂
